Why is it important to vaccinate a kitten?

Vaccinations are so crucial because they can prevent your newborn cat from contracting several serious and life-threatening diseases. Vaccinations not only protect your own feline friend, they also protect other pets and animals in your neighbourhood. If your pet is vaccinated, they will be less likely to spread illnesses to other animals close by. Conditions that can affect unvaccinated pets are also costly and time-consuming to treat. Rabies, kennel cough, chlamydia, and feline leukemia are just some of the conditions that unvaccinated cats can contract.

Do indoor cats need vaccines?

Absolutely. All cats need to be vaccinated with their core (mandatory) vaccines. They can still be exposed to harmful illnesses and parasites even if they live 100% indoors. There are also non-core (optional) vaccines available. The kind of non-core vaccines recommended by the vet varies from patient to patient. For example, a cat who lives in a farm may need a different set of non-core vaccines than a cat who lives in a high-rise condominium.
